What possible benefit could it serve me or anyone else to hold onto resentment? It doesn’t change what happened. What it does, is stop us in our tracks; our forward movement in life slowly (or sometimes abruptly) comes to a halt. A piece of our hearts and minds is in limbo, waiting for something to change what is; hoping somehow we can make it right. And sometimes we just can’t. It’s over.
And if we hold on, the open wound starts to fester and rot. The edges get crusty and the infection spreads out deeper into our bodies. We are the ones who get ill and die from the effects of holding on to anger and resentment. God, don’t let that be you. Don’t walk through the days of your life clenching your teeth or lie on your deathbed glaring at anyone. It’s not worth draining your life of the incredible joy and love that is available to you.
Liberate yourself, today. Let go. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Move on. It all gets sorted out in the end. This is your life – live it now.
